Educational Philosophy:

Children have the innate desire to explore and discover the natural world around them. As a teacher, I hope to equip my students with the knowledge and ability to look at the world critically and fuel a belief in one's capacity to make positive contributions to society. I want my students to be engaged and this starts with making the curriculum relatable to them as well as linking applications to their lives and futures. I will incorporate a variety of instructional strategies in an attempt to reach the wide range of learning styles in the classroom including lectures, lab activities, computer-based research, presentations, and land-based activities. My lessons will be student-centered and focus on problem-based learning while encouraging student involvement. I am very motivated to not only transfer academic knowledge but to also convey life skills including treating others with respect, working in teams, and being healthy.
